The Give Away Girl by MrsSpaceCowboy

So as many know I love to torture myself and because that is what I do I started yet another WIP.

Summary: Honor student Bella Swan has mastered the arts...of manipulating her divorced
parents, rolling the perfect joint, and faking an orgasm. Who wouldn't want to keep
a girl like her? An unconventional coming of age tale for Gen Xer Bella. Rated M.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7206314/1/The_Give_Away_Girl

This story takes place in the 90's and from the time I picked it up I could not put it down. It is well written and features a strong independent Bella with a somewhat Geekward E. This story is like a blast from the past since I myself am a "Gen Xer." It is a fun and emotional read as it follows E and B through their high school years. I do not know if there will be an HEA in the end but it does seem to be leading in that direction so far.

No cheating while E and B are together but they have had relations with others prior to meeting eachother as well as during a seperation. If this bothers you as a reader I would urge you to look past it because the author does not go into detail when writing about any others besides E and B.

With Teeth by TalulaBlue

http://www.twilighted.net/viewstory.php?sid=7061

The Fanfic that I am recommending today is one that will most likely always stay at the top of my favorites.

With Teeth is incredibly well written. It is a heartbreaking journey for both Edward and Bella as they try to form a relationship when the odds are stacked against them. Edward is a recovering drug addict as well as an alcoholic; when he first meets Bella  he has only been sober for about six months. Despite the risks of becoming involved in a relationship so soon in his recovery he quickly falls for Bella.

Bella is also aware of the consequences of being in a relationship with Edward so soon in his recovery, but the need to be with him is greater than the risks as she can not stay away from him.

This story goes into great detail the life that Edward had lived while he was using. He was a selfish bastard, and he treated others as though they were beneath him. He used women as nothing but a vessel for his release, and now that he is trying to stay sober he has to live with the consequences of his addiction as well as his treatment of others.

This is a Fic that was written with brutal honesty. The author does not glamorize drug use or casual sex- if you are looking for a fluffy romance then this is not the fic for you. I do not want to go into great detail and spoil the story but I will say that although the journey is a rocky one it is also one that is well worth it in the end.

The story is told in both Edward and Bella's POV. Both Bella and Edward have sexual relations with others in this fic but not while they are in a relationship together so no cheating.

Fic Rec for July 23, 2012
Although I already posted this on the GoodReads Fan Fic Addicts group site, I wanted to post this  for the public.

Son of a Preacher Man by LaViePastiche

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5058174/1/Son_of_a_Preacher_Man
The wild son of a famous televangelist, Jasper likes to love ‘em and leave ‘em. Will he meet his match in Bella, who’s in love with his sister’s boyfriend Edward? And what happens when Edward finally notices her?

This author usually writes Bella & Jasper pairings, but she changed things up in "Son of a Preacher Man". What starts as a Bella & Jasper pairing ends up with a great Bella & Edward HEA. While we get povs from Edward, Bella and Jasper, I LOVED the character developments of Jasper and Bella.

Bella, in love with the totally oblivious Edward who is dating Rosalie, finds herself in a quandary when 22 year old bad boy Jasper wants to add Bella to the numerous notches on his cherry popping bedpost. To her surprise, she ends up falling for him and to his shock (and denial), Jasper treats her as more than the usual teenaged virgin he preys upon. But it's Jasper's attention to Bella that sweeps away the apathetic fog Edward's been living in since he moved to Arizona and actually notices Bella. While Edward's realizing his feelings for Bella, Jasper and Bella are getting closer until Jasper can't take his feelings for Bella and pushes her away.

I liked Edward, but I LOVED Jasper and Bella in this story. They both grow and mature so much with each other and without each other. By the end, I was so happy for Bella and Edward, but I was grinning at the end with Jasper's pov ending the story.

I can't say enough about this story. The author did a fantastic job of delineating Bella, Jasper and Edward so you really come to understand them and the choices (stupid or not) they make. There is a dark theme around secondary characters that is touched upon and it becomes more and more obvious as you read each chapter.

HEA all around
No cheating.
Great characters
Good story

**warning: there are lemons between Jasper and Bella when they are together**

Enjoy!

A Thousand Leaves by BellaSunshine

Isabella Swan grew up as the best friend of Alice Cullen, younger sister of Edward Cullen, who was never nice to Bella despite her being an "honorary Cullen."  Everything changes when Edward is sent to prison for the murder of Bella's mother.

Before I go on, let me start off by saying now that even if you don't like mysteries give "A Thousand Leaves" a chance.  This is a gripping story of two families torn apart and lives forever changed by Renee's murder and an angry and condescending Edward who was sent to prison for it.  The murder mystery is told piece by piece retroactively through Bella's version of sequence of events and what she witnessed.   Bella meets a bloodied Edward leaving her home and inside is a brutally murdered Renee.  Based on circumstantial evidence, past behavior and Bella's testimony, a jury finds Edward guilty and sentences him to life in prison.  But what if what you knew, what you saw was wrong?  Could you really rely on your memory while in a panicked and emotional state?  Oh shoot, I think you know where this is going, huh?

Six years after the murder, Bella returns to Forks for the first time to reunite with her father, Charlie.  Now a college grad and a journalist, Bella takes a job as a local crime reporter where she stumbles upon files about her mother's murder from the former crime reporter who has mysteriously disappeared.   The files and notes all lead to questions about what really happened the night Renee was killed.  When Bella also finds a box of letters from a much humbled Edward that her father intercepted, she begins to doubt what she thought she knew and saw that traumatic night.

You will feel - I mean FEEL - a whole host emotions from a variety of characters in this story.  You're not relegated to just Bella's pov, but you will feel and see the depths of despair and selfishness from all of the Cullens who live in a small town where they went from being the perfect family to the family of a murderer.  This is not a story where the Cullens in all their wealth and exalted reputation were able to save their son from prison.  They were real and it tore their family apart.

There is a whole cast of supporting and secondary characters that really liven up the story and make you suspicious of everyone and everything.  There are Aro, Caius and Marcus, a suspicious lawyer, a crafty reporter and Rose the detective.   There's Emmett who is the only Cullen to believe in Edward and visit him in jail.  As Bella visits Edward in jail and tries to figure out what exactly happened and if Edward was framed, her crush for the formerly indifferent but cruel Edward returns and Edward starts to fall in love - but like an idiot, doesn't realize it right away.

The story doesn't stop at the murder mystery, but goes on and that's where we really see McPrisoner Edward and Bella's relationship develops once he owns up to his feelings for Bella.  There are lemons, but they come later in the story (remember: he's in jail and B's not about to give in to conjugal visits when she still thinks he killed her mother even if she does have doubts and this E was downright mean to her before the murder).  For those that like a virgin Bella, well add this to your list, because once Edward decides she's his, his hands and tongue make sure she doesn't stay that way.

Roll around in a thousand leaves and enjoy it.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Sleep On The Floor by sexycereal

Here is my fan fiction rec for today.

Sleep on the Floor by sexycereal
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6228262/1/Sleep_On_The_Floor
Summary: He steals my coffee first, my virginity second and my heart third. College fluff. AH.

Bella and Edward had me smiling and giggling while reading this story.  Like the summary says "college fluff" so don't expect any of the angst or drama we're used to.  The moment Bella and Edward meet in Starbucks really does set the tone for the story and their future interactions.  This is just a simple, feel-good story between 2 snarky leads with some fun dialogue and secondary characters that make you shake your head in smiling disbelief.  So join them for an entertaining and light-hearted ride.

Hope you enjoy as much I as did.

Ok so I have a weakness for wip's! I know that I should stay away but I just can't seem to help myself. After finishing Loner I caved and read Dusty by YellowBella http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7659651/1/Dusty which I have to say is a very addicting Fan Fic. High level of angst and this story does contain cheating.

While waiting for Dusty updates I decided to torture myself further and started another wip that so far is pretty fucking amazing to be honest. A Pound of Flesh by jaxon22 http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5926016/1/A_Pound_of_Flesh If you have not been following this story then I would recommend doing so. Very well written and different from many of the other Fan Fic's out there.

Currently reading Loner by Nilla79. If you liked Wide Awake and How to Save a Life then this would be a good rec for you. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5705727/1/Loner It is complete.

Brief description by author: All Human. Edward Cullen was a loner, an outcast. He clearly hated everybody, including himself. He was not a nice person. So, why was I so drawn to him? And why did I get the crazy feeling he felt the same way?

WARNING!!!!! This story will deal with both child abuse and rape. If that bothers you too much, I strongly recommend that you don't read.

***UPDATE***

Finished Loner. This was a well written ff by Nilla79. It was a very angsty read due to the topic as previously stated in the description. Both E/B Pov's were written so at times it seemed a little repetitive but overall it was a good read. No cheating involved and there is an Hea. The story reminded me at times of Wide Awake, How to Save a Life, as well as Offside.
